Bald May Not Be So Beautiful

I was reading sories today about Stacey Fearnall, a 36 year old waitress who was fired for shaving her head. She wasn't really fired, but what mother of two working three jobs can afford to take a summer off to allow her hair to grow back?

She was taking part in the cancer fundraiser Cops for Cancer. Participants get people to pledge a certain amount per person, and in return they have their head shaved in public to raise money and awairness. Stacey Fearnall Raised 2700 dollars (presumably Canadian) through her pledges, but upon returning to work was informed that she would not be needed for the summer.

Make no mistake, I think that was a horrible decision on her employer's part. At the same time, I think that was their right. The restaurant has a dress/appearance code for employees that she was well aware of prior to participating. They also offered that she could wear a wig to keep in compliance.

I think she did a good thing, and the restaurant missed a great opportunity for good publicity, but the owners have every right to run the business as they see fit. What do you think?

Shadow Puppets on Steroids

I'm probably late to the rally on this one, but this is just amazing to me.
